Researchers may have found new hope for patients with previously-treated advanced metastatic colorectal cancer. The treatment involves a chemotherapeutic regimen called FOLFOX4.

The study determined that patients treated with FOLFOX4 and Avastin tended to live approximately two months longer than those treated with a FOLFOX4 regimen alone.

In case you'd like to discuss this treatment option with your doctor, here's some information you may want to provide about the study. It was conducted by a research group at the University of Pennsylvania and the findings were presented at the 2005 American Society of Clinical Oncology GI meeting held in Hollywood, Florida.
