Preliminary results from a clinical trial indicated that a combination of FOLFOX4 and Avastin helped people with advanced colorectal cancer live longer than FOLFOX4 alone.

In the trial, one group of patients received an Eloxatin regimen known as FOLFOX4. The other group was treated with the FOLFOX4 regimen and Avastin.

Results showed that people treated with the Eloxatin/Avastin combination lived longer.

This helps demonstrate why it's a good idea to consider joining a clinical trial if conventional treatment isn't working. Clinical trial participants generally receive free medical care and have access to experimental treatments. One of the major drawbacks, in my opinion, is that you may be receiving a placebo without knowing it. It's not an easy decision to make.
