What are colon cancer survival rates like in Australia?

Colon cancer survival rates vary, but these statistics will give you a general idea of colon cancer survival rates for people who live in Australia. The five-year survival rate represents the percentage of patients alive five years after their initial diagnosis. Likewise, the ten-year survival rate represents the percentage of patients alive ten years after their initial diagnosis.

Five-Year Survival Statistics:

  • Duke's A / Stage 1 Colon Cancer: 93%
  • Duke's B / Stage 2 Colon Cancer: 90%
  • Duke's C / Stage 3 Colon Cancer: 59%

Ten-Year Survival Statistics:

  • Duke's A / Stage 1 Colon Cancer: 92%
  • Duke's B / Stage 2 Colon Cancer: 89%
  • Duke's C / Stage 3 Colon Cancer: 56%
These colon cancer survival statistics were derived from a study published in the ANZ Journal of Surgery. The researchers determined that while age and gender had little to do with survival, stage at diagnosis had a significant impact.
