Cetuximab

Definition:

Cetuximab targets a type of protein (EGFR) present on the surface of colorectal cancer cells. Ultimately, cetuximab interferes with the growth of these cells and causes them to die. Cetuximab is sold under the brand name Erbitux and is prescribed to patients whose cancer has spread to other organs.
